WOOD

Alder wood is a raw product of nature. The grain patterns, knots, and color variations give each piece a unique charm. We are unable to control the placement of knots, grain patterns, texture and the expansion and contraction of wood. Small seasonal splits are common. You should not expect your furniture to show the blank, flawless uniformity of man-made materials, such as plastic or formica.

To safeguard wood finishes following these guidelines will ensure the longevity of your wood furniture:

  • Employ coasters, placemats, table runners, trivets and table clothes.
  • Quickly wipe up any moisture with a dry microfiber cloth.
  • Use felt pads to prevent scratches (avoid cork and rubber pads as they may interact with the wood finish).
  • Over time, air and sunlight will alter the natural color of wood. Rotate the items on your wood furniture occasionally to encourage a more uniform color development.
  • For any type of spill, immediately wipe off the area with a soft, dry cloth we recommend microfiber cloths.
  • Do not use commercial cleaners, solvents, synthetic waxes, sprays, or ammonia-based cleaners.
  • For any heavy residue use a damp microfiber cloth followed by a dry cloth.
  • If you place a wet substance to the furniture and a salamander ring appears, remove the wet item immediately. The lacquer needs to breathe. Once exposed to air for a day, the cloudy water ring will disappear.
  • A paint or stain touch-up kit is available for $15, plus shipping cost, or free of charge if it is to repair a manufacture defect.

ULTRAFABRICS FAUX LEATHER

One of the best ways to keep Ultrafabrics looking great is through proper maintenance and regular cleaning to prevent excessive dirt from accumulating. To help keep your quality fabrics looking their best, follow these guidelines to extend the life of the fabric:

  1. Wipe up spills as soon as they occur
  2. Clean with soap and water
  3. Sanitize using disinfectants such as (1:5) bleach/water solution
  4. For stubborn stains, wipe off with isopropyl alcohol as soon as possible*
  5. Thoroughly rinse all solution residue with clean water
  6. Air dry This information is not a guarantee.

Please use all cleaning and disinfecting agents safely and as instructed. The use of other cleaning agents, disinfectants, conditioners or protectants is not recommended as they can degrade fabric’s performance and may void Ultrafabrics warranty.

Ink & Stain Resistant collections note — A variety of clothing and accessories may contain dyes that could transfer to lighter colors, depending upon variations in temperature and humidity. Dye transfer is difficult to control, not always fully preventable, and may be irreversible. Fabric may not protect against intentional stains or permanent inks.

CANE

Most homes have very dry environments, so it's important to care for the new material in your product. Cane, a natural product that grows in humid climates, becomes brittle as it ages after being stripped of moisture for furniture use. Just as you polish wood furniture to keep it moisturized and in good condition, cane also requires occasional treatment.

We recommend applying a light coat of lemon oil or Howard’s Feed-N-Wax orange/beeswax oil to the underside of the cane every six months to nourish it.

If the seat begins to sag, lightly spritzing it with water can help restore the tension in the weave of hand-caned seats (if there are no breaks in the material). Allow it to air-dry, then apply a coat of lemon or orange oil.

Keep caned furniture away from heating ducts, woodstoves, fireplaces, and avoid sunny locations, as these factors will dry the material out faster. Light vacuuming occasionally will remove dirt and fine particles.
